Happy 2019
Step 1: Sketch
Using the Tombow ONLO Mechanical Pencil sketch ‘Happy 2019’ on a sheet of Canson Mixed Media paper.
Step 2: Ink
Lightly erase your design using the Tombow Mono eraser. Once you apply ink over the pencil, it will set and show through your design. Using the Tombow Dual Brush pen in 725, letter ‘Happy 2019’. Using the bullet tip of the dual brush pen, add a border around the lettering, by ‘outlining’ the shape of the lettering.
Step 3: Add Shadow and Outline
Add a shadow to the lettering using the Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen, Twin Tip in gray. I added the shadow to the right of each downstroke. I then added an outline using the Tombow Mono Drawing pen.
Step 4: Details
Using the Tombow dual brush pens in 025 and 245 add small circles in the background for a decorative detail. I outlined each circle with the mono drawing pen. Using 725 again, take the brush pen tip and add a shadow to the outline created around the lettering. (Try to imagine a light source coming in from the top left hand corner). Once your done, outline the border and shadow with the Tombow Mono drawing pen.
Step 5: Cut and Add Handle
Cut out the phrase, leaving a little bit of white paper around the border, and attach a wooden stick to the back for a handle, using washi tape.
New Year New Me
Step 1: Sketch
Using the Tombow ONLO Mechanical Pencil sketch ‘New Year New Me’ on a sheet of Canson Mixed Media paper. I concentrated this design to be tall and vertical.
Step 2: Ink
Take the Tombow Fudenosuke Brush pen in black (soft) and trace over your lettering created in pencil.
Step 3: Add Shadow
Using the Tombow dual brush pen in N65, add a shadow to the right of each stroke. I added a thicker shadow to the downstrokes and thinner shadow to the upstrokes. I then used the Metallic Blue Gelly Roll gel pen and added a stroke in between the black and gray. I love the pop this adds.
Step 4: Cut and Add Handle
Cut out the phrase, leaving a little bit of white paper around the border, and attach a wooden stick to the back for a handle, using washi tape.
Hello 2019 Party Hat
Step 1: Sketch
Using the Tombow ONLO Mechanical Pencil sketch a party hat design and letter ‘Hello 2019’ inside the hat, on a sheet of Canson Mixed Media paper.
Step 2: Add Colour
Apply the Tombow dual brush pen in 373 to the blending palette. Using the Pentel water brush pen, pick up the colour and apply to the background of the party hat. Then, using the bullet tip of 373, colour in the base of the hat. I then used the bullet tip of 636 to colour in the pom pom on top of the hat.
Step 3: Letter and Outline
Letter ‘Hello 2019’ with the Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen (soft). To add a nice detail to the lettering, add a stroke to the right of each downstroke. Then, outline your party hat image with the Tombow Mono drawing pen.
Step 4: Add Sparkle Detail
To add a bit of glam and glitter, I added some detail with the Gelly Roll metallic gel pen to the pom pom and to the bottom of the hat.
Step 5: Cut and Add Handle
Cut out the party hat, leaving a little bit of a white paper border, and attach a wooden stick to the back for a handle, using washi tape.
